Ricci Rivero has offers from Japan, other Asian leagues, confirms agent Charlie Dy

Ricci Rivero is being pursued not only by teams from the Japan B.League but from other Asian leagues as well.

Rivero’s agent Charlie Dy confirmed reports that the 23-year old collegiate star has pending offers from teams abroad but they have yet to accept any.

Dy refused to divulge which team from Japan made the offer but hinted that the squad plays in the second division. The two parties, however, failed to come to terms on a contract.

“I had to look out for the welfare of Ricci,” said Dy.

Furthermore, the Alab Pilipinas team owner denied that a similar offer from the Shiga Lakestars is currently on the table. The first-division team is apparently on the lookout for a replacement for Kiefer Ravena whose bid to join his younger brother Thirdy in the fledging league was blocked by the PBA in behalf of the NLEX Road Warriors.

Aside from Japan, Dy bared that a team from Chinese-Taipei is also interested in acquiring the services of the former La Salle and Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 standout.

The teams, however, will have to wait as Dy seems reluctant on uprooting Rivero who remains committed to playing for the UP Maroons in the UAAP. The 2017 UAAP Mythical Team member also has numerous movie and showbiz commitments as well as endorsement deals.

“Like I always tell the players that I represent, the contract has to be worth it before you agree, especially those Fil-Ams who have to leave their families,” explained Dy.

“It’s the same case with Ricci. The contract has to be worth it,” he added.

Nevertheless, the former UST and Adamson mentor insisted that they are not in any way closing the door on playing overseas and they will still consider any offer that comes along the way.
