Third straight DNP for Kai Sotto as Orlando loses to New York in OT

Kai Sotto remained glued to the bench for the third straight game as Orland absorbed another defeat in the NBA Summer League.

The 7-foot-3 Filipino big man sat out the Magic’s 80-82 overtime loss against the New York Knicks on Thursday morning (Manila time) at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Sotto also did not play in Orlando’s losses to Detroit and Indiana.

He’ll get one more chance to play when the Magic take on the Portland Trailblazers on Friday (9:00am Manila time).

Still, it was a difficult setback for the Magic, who were defeated in overtime by a buzzer-beating bucket from Jaylen Martin.

Three Knicks players scored in double digits, led by Charlie Brown Jr.’s 19 points and 6 rebounds.

QJ Peterson had 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Martin chipped in 12 markers.

Jett Howard led the Magic with 22 points, while Quinndary Weatherspoon and Anthony Black contributed 17 points and 14 rebounds, respectively.
