Jamie Malonzo, Troy Rike sign multi-year deals with NorthPort

NorthPort announced on Monday that Jamie Malonzo and Troy Rike have been signed to multi-year deals.

The 6-foot-6 Malonzo and 6-foot-8 Rike, taken by the Batang Pier with the 2nd and 11th overall picks, respectively, in the PBA Season 46 Rookie Draft, came to terms with the Mikee Romero-owned franchise more than a month after the draft proper.

Malonzo signed a three-year max rookie deal while Rike settled for a two-year contract. Both players signed the deals in the presence of their agents.

“I have to tip my hat to NorthPort for getting the deal done under the pandemic circumstances. I’m happy and this is one less thing to worry about,” said Malonzo in a message to ESPN5.

“Now, I’m excited to hit the floor and rep NorthPort,” added the one-and-done player from De La Salle University who posted averages of 15.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 steals in UAAP Season 82.

Rike, on the other hand, is a one-and-done player as well. The 25-year old Fil-Am suited up for National University in UAAP Season 81 and finished with decent averages of 6.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.

The two incoming rookies are expected to play a big role for the Batang Pier squad bannered by Sean Anthony, the returning Robert Bolick and new acquisition Greg Slaughter.
