PBA bars Kiefer Ravena from playing in Japan

The PBA announced on Saturday afternoon that Kiefer Ravena should honor his contract with NLEX.

The 27-year old Ravena, who signed a three-year deal with the Road Warriors just last September, made the headlines earlier this week after the Shiga Lakestars announced the signing of the former Ateneo de Manila standout.

“The board’s decision follows specifically the philosophy of the importance of a contract. The board has decided that Kiefer has to honor his contract with NLEX and with the PBA. That’s where we are,” said league chairman Ricky Vargas during an online press conference with commissioner Willie Marcial and vice chairman Bobby Rosales of Terrafirma.

“Breaking the contract is very difficult for us to manage moving forward,” he added.

Vargas disclosed that they will inform the Japan B.League as well as the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas of the board’s decision later today.

Ravena has yet to be informed of the board’s decision as of posting time.
